Motorhomes: The American Dream

Just why are motorhomes so popular in the States? It’s a life goal of many a yank to own their own motorhome so they can get away from it all with the wife and kids for the weekend, heck, many American families even trek across the country in them!

And these motorhomes aren’t just an extension of your home, they are often more luxurious. Yer Hanks and yer Brads spend thousands of bucks on ‘em, with such mod cons as plasma TVs, ceramic tiled flooring and king-sized beds.

Motorhomes are the American equivalent of camping, only with a fully furnished house instead of a three-birther, which invariably leaks, from Milletts!

The Americans have a great tradition of experiencing outdoor life with the family, huddling round a camp fire, melting marshmallow, sleeping amongst the grizzly bears, yet these motorhomes are so luxurious that the notion that embracing the Great Outdoors is the reason why motorhomes are so popular in the US is baloney.

The reason they are so sought after is that, like sportscars and watches, motorhomes are yet another extension of the male ego: ‘Hey, look at the size of mine! Shoot, I bet yer bottom dollar it’s bigger than yours!’
