Five Reasons Why Bruges City Breaks Are Great

BeerLooking for a romantic getaway that offers a little traditional Belgique charm for your lady, while serving your own needs at the same time? We think that possibly one of the best things to do is look for Bruges city breaks.

To help you on your way, we’ve compiled five things you simply must do when visiting the West Flanders province capital.

1.    BEER. Belgium has around 125 breweries, and Belgian beer is famous the world over.

Sup Leffe, or whichever other delights you stumble across, until your heart’s content. Be warned though, Belgian beer is generally stronger than the beer we’re used to in the UK, so go easy if you want to…

2.    Hire a bike. Be eco-chic and beat the traffic in one fell swoop. A great way to see this historical city and a great way to get a bit of exercise, too. Or, if the temptation of beer has left you a little worse for wear, and the best idea would be for someone else to be in charge of your transport…

3.    Have a horse and cart ride. Touristy yes, but also very fun and very, very romantic.

4.    Take a canal trip. There aren’t many places you can see by boat, but Bruges city breaks offer the chance to glide around a network of canals, taking in the sights and stopping off for more beer, of course.

5.    Moules-frites. Try the famous, nutritious and delicious Belgian dish for yourself, in the place that does it best. It goes without saying that this should be washed down with more Belgian beer.
